- I chose Borland C++ because in a comparison of several
- C++ compilers in a magazine it scored best in fullfillement
- of items on the cfront wish list.
-
- Unhappily, I had a problem with the compiler causing a
- hangup due to an internal error. Sending in the code to
- Borland Switzerland had no effect. Honestly, I don't
- believe Microsoft customer support is any better. However,
- Visual C++ had no problems to compile my code.
-
- Then I had trouble with operations on floats producing a
- divide by zero errors when debugging while not at runtime
- (yes, the float library was linked in).
-
- In the end Microsoft has the far better IDE compared to
- Borland at the moment. Maybe only surcompassed by the
- Symantec IDE. As Symantec Switzerland isn't able
- ship an item in less than 6 weeks, I swapped to Visual
- C++ of which I also knew it would compile the code that caused
- the Borland compiler tp produce a fatal internal error.
